Counselling and Psychotherapy
Counselling and psychotherapy are "talking therapies", professional methods for working with human unhappiness and stress. They take place within a safe, confidential and boundaried contractual therapeutic relationship between therapist and client.
The overall goal is for you to resolve issues which are problematic to you, which block your self-expression, inhibit your aspiration or dull your life-satisfaction.
What kind of counselling and psychotherapy?
The therapy I offer is:
- Humanistic
- Integrative
- with a theoretical foundation of Transactional Analysis (see FAQ's)
What will happen is:
We will work together to explore:
- your past and present emotional experience,
- your ways of thinking about yourself, others and the world, and
- your ways of behaving in your life.
We may explore in an in-depth way your childhood and family history to better understand how you came to be who you are now.
We may explore your life plan, or script, to understand why you feel blocked, restricted or unable to move forward in your life.
We sometimes seek to make sense of what is happening in the relationship between us, so that any problems with yourself and others can be better understood and resolved.
